The Project

“Living in a New Gender Era: Deconstructing Gender Stereotypes – Redefining and Developing New Aspects of Masculinities and Femininities” is a project aiming to tackle persisting gender stereotypes and to provide alternative positive narratives on gender in Greece. The action focuses on deconstructing gender stereotypes especially in young audiences as well as in sites of public discourse, i.e. the media and advertising.

The project aspires to achieve its goals by offering capacity building opportunities regarding gender stereotypes on multiple professional groups that work with youth, media and advertising. At the same time, in the framework of the project, large-scale raising awareness activities will be implemented, including a nation-wide campaign on social media, as a well as a social media initiative built from students addressing students in order to sensitize young audiences on gender equality.

Furthermore, mutual learning activities will be implemented too, in order to identify, record and publish the best practices on avoiding the reproduction of gender stereotypes while offering positive alternatives on gender when working with children, adolescents and young adults.

The ultimate goal of the “New Gender Era” project is to effectively contribute in the elimination of gender stereotypes and discrimination aiming to prevent gender based violence and toxic behaviours, while making steps forward for an EU of gender equality.

The project is implemented by the Hellenic League for Human Rights and Gender Alliance Initiative with the support of the European Union.
