\n\n Global Sumud Flotilla: Raid by Israeli forces on a humanitarian mission off Crete<\/a>\n \n \n <\/h3>\n \n

In the early hours of 30 April 2026, the Israeli Navy intercepted vessels of the Global Sumud Flotilla sailing off the coast of Crete carrying humanitarian aid. The Hellenic League for Human Rights (HLHR)<\/strong>, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH)<\/strong><\/a> and the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT)<\/strong><\/a>, within the framework of the Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, denounce this raid and call on the Israeli authorities to immediately release all the activists illegally detained, and call on the Greek authorities to act immediately to secure the activists\u2019 safe release.<\/p>\n

The Greek Forum of Refugees (GFR)<\/a> and the RISE Network[1]\u00a0(Refugees Ideas and Solutions for Europe) express their\u00a0outrage, profound concern, and deep sorrow<\/strong>\u00a0over yet another\u00a0brutal crime<\/strong>\u00a0against refugees in the Aegean Sea.
